    New Betta Home

What a beautiful tank and a beautiful fish! I bet he likes the extra space, my two really seem to enjoy their split 10gallon.

    Heating Betta Tanks

I can also vouch for the hydor heater (I have one in with my bettas), it's fully adjustable which is nice. I can also recommend this heater by Tetra (http://www.amazon.com/Tetra-26447-Submersible-Aquarium-50-Watt/dp/B000OQO69Q). This one is not adjustable but it is set to keep the temperature...

    Sour Smelling Wood

Yes, there were quite a bit of tannins in the water during the 2nd water change, it was a medium-dark amber colour. Good to know that, that could be the cause. lol I'm not sure about the brewed tea smell xD.      Thanks for the tip!

    Sour Smelling Wood

Hi everyone, I have some small pieces of manzanita wood soaking in some water. It has been in there for 4 days and I have changed the water twice. However, when I went to change the water today (the 2nd time) I noticed bubbles on the surface of the water and a sour smell coming from the wood...

    Fish In Cycle Advice

I agree with both of the above posts. If you can't/don't want to return the fish, I second Byron's recommendation about getting bottled bacteria. I used Dr. Tim's brand and had great results, both times I've bought it I ordered it off of Amazon, but you can also get it on the Dr. Tim's website.

Fairly New Betta, Hole In Tail

Since I posted the last picture there doesn't seem to be any changes, so I think you may be right about not having to worry.  If Rainbow is somehow able to bite Festus through the mesh I'll soon be getting a more permanent divider that will keep them separated better.  Thanks for your post :)

Dr. Tims Waste Away And Bettas?

Thank you all for taking the time to post your input. At the moment I am trying to keep the cyano at bay with regular water changes and cleaning the sand better. However, I think if I still end up having a lot of it come back I may spend the extra money and try it out. Thanks again :)

    A Fishy Tale

Little Devil stared back, I could see in his eyes that he was not going to back down from my challenge.

Fairly New Betta, Hole In Tail

I hadn't seen this until this morning, here is a picture of the full tank. The water is a bit greenish because I added in a jungle fizz tab last night. When I had gone up to go to sleep his tail had gotten worse, I added a picture of what it looks like now, sorry it's not the best quality, I had...

None that I could see, he looks fine other than the hole in his tail and the scale.

Fairly New Betta, Hole In Tail

Hahahaha, as interesting as that would look I don't know if he would like it very much.    Thanks for the info! I'll look into where to get some of the leaves.  __________________ As of a few minutes ago I noticed that one of his scales on his side seems to be coming off :S I don't know what...
