I've never really been a fan 'ordinary' fish but I have to be honest, I'm really quite fond of our new rainbows. I love the way the males flash a bright yellow stripe along their dorsal & head when a female is near. I had no idea that they could colour-change so rapidly like a cuttlefish...
I've been away for a long time and LadyMinion and I have been out of the hobby for three or four years.
All the tanks taking up space in my tiny, tiny little terraced house just got a bit too much and after the death of our beloved Martha we decided to call it a day.
We sold all our tanks...
Yeah. pretty much the same species we'd already come up with. Discus Tetra fit the bill best but they still need a bit more room than we've got.
We briefly toyed with the idea of Rosy Bitterling (Rhodeus ocellatus) but decided not to because they're really coolwater fish and wouldn't do well in...
We're just getting back into fishkeeping after a time away.
We used to be big odd-ballers and L-number fanatics but this time we're going for peaceful shoalers instead.
We really like silver dollars but don't have anything close to the room needed to keep them properly.
We know sod-all about...
Looks like a Wui Goby Rhinogobius wui commonly sold for no apparent reason as a Wurri Goby or sometimes even as a 'Dwarf Dragon Goby'
It's a freshwater temperate species. Likes the water clean and not too warm. Eats inverts such as bloodworm.
Here's a picture of ours.
Even dwarf puffers are a community no-no.
We tried tetras with our dwarf puffers once... everything was fine for for weeks then overnight we lost nine of the 11 tetras.
This is what a one 1½cm Dwarf puffer can do to a tetra.
apologies for having to drag this photo out yet again to illustrate...
Absolutely. Size of the prey means nothing to a puffer.
When Martha was not much more than 2 inches long she killed and ate a 5 inch swan mussel!
Inverts are puffer food. Period.
After the sad loss of Martha (See avatar) I've been kind of drifting away from the hobby a little and now with a house move on the cards we need to de-clutter the house. The less we have the less we have to move! So...

We use the Colchester Swallow aquatics quite a lot.
It moved location a couple of years ago and isn't quite as good as it used to be (at least for freshwater fish), but it still kicks the backside of pretty much every other place in the area (Seapets? are you listening?)
You have no idea how pleased I am that you've clarified that. I've been telling him it's a nasty habit for years but he swears by it and he runs a pretty succesful business so I'd always accepted his word that it works!
Myself, I use 75% mature media taken from other tanks (not any of his!)...
