    Hagen Biolife Filter....Any Thoughts?

I've got an opportunity to get an (almost new) Hagen Biolife filter. I was wondering if anybody had any experience and thoughts about these filters? In particular, Is it problematic to install in the end of a typical Clear-Seal tank? (36x12x15). I'm thinking the bracing bars might prove a...

    Synodontis decorus - how predatory?

Hey, The Honey gourami was fully grown, and the neons were pretty big - i would say about 75% of the size of the decorus. Thats why I thought it was a bit much. The neons were found floating, and being picked on by some of my barbs etc. I'll be moving the decorus as it grows to the...

    Synodontis decorus - how predatory?

Last thursday I got a very young S. decorus - about 2" in total length. Since he/she was so small I thought i'd put him in my 36" living room tank. I figured everything in there was safe - even the Neons cos they were at least half the size of the catfish. Still - im down 3 neons and a...

    Several Deaths in a week...

I dunno.....but I'm getting ready to tear my hair out! but that would require having some in the first place, so thats doing me no good! lol I have to admit, the penquins started disappearing before the angels, and I've been wondering if perhaps they were carrying something and either the...

    Several Deaths in a week...

My normal procedure for preparing water is to fill a large plastic bin with water the night before, add dechlorinator and aerate the water all night, I have a heater in that bin too - its the same water I use for both my tanks, and ive not had this problem in the other tank. I get your point...

    Several Deaths in a week...

God this is so frustrating! I just found my smallest angel dead.......I was only through checking on them about an hour and a half ago....although he was kinda listless in the back corner. but thats the first sign ive ever noticed. I'm dreading waking up in the morning, as the tank is in my...

    Several Deaths in a week...

Well, I dont think I do quite as much as 50% really, and certainly not often. Basically I do it like this: the tank holds 16 buckets of water, and I usually change between 3-5 buckets per week. so thats about 25%-35% every week, and have only done 50% a couple of times. :grr:
