Thanks for the responses. I'm not keen to up the numbers of anything other than maybe the corys. The gold tetras I took off a friend who no longer wanted them and to be honest I find them incredibly dull so I'm not keen to add more.
The loaches I'm not fond off as they killed all of my zebra...
Hi
I have a Juwel Rio 180 tank with an odd mix of fish due to survivors of various groups of fish I have had over the years. I just lost my last Bosemani rainbow who I had for almost 8 years.
Although I am tempted to get a new shoal of Bosemanis I have been wondering if I could get a Gourami...
Thanks for the information. I sincerely hope it is not mycobacteriosis as that sounds quite nasty! I've been advised on another forum to use one of the Interpet range of meds and to separate the fish into a hospital tank. Worth a try, I just have to get myself a tank now.
Hi all
One of my bosemani rainbows has red sores on his body. I have just dosed the last dose of Melafix which has had no effect at all and I don't know what to do. He seems very bad tempered and nips at the other rainbows in the tank, although none of them have any sores or marks whatsoever...
Hi all
I can't seem to find a definitive answer as to whether rainbow fish like fast or slow moving water. I have had a powerhead in my tank for a while now creating extra flow, as I noticed that whenever I topped up the water during a water change the rainbows all seemed to love swimming in...
The only difficulty is ensuring you get what you are after when stocking! The shop I buy from said it is almost impossible to tell males and females when rainbows are young.
Hiya Jonesy
I never would have thought that removing the female would help! As I said in my OP I was looking to add more females. Would that work too or is it best to keep them in same sex groups? It was hard to get a good photo as they swim about a lot when you get near the tank. I think...
Hi all
A couple of my four male Bosemani Rainbow fish have scale damage and I'm not sure why. I have seen them nipping at each other which I assumed to be because there is only one female in the tank. I would like to get more females as I assume that might make them less nippy? Unfortunately...
Well a few months on and thought I'd give an update. The Zebra with the torn fins never seems to have enough. He just starts to heal his fin and is looking almost normal when he gets involved in another fight and ends up back to square one. I have just been watching him poke his fins into one...
Well I did add another piece of driftwood to provide more places to hide but I thought they would shoal together. In general they all seem happy together except for the two that are fighting. Think they are both the two largest of each type of loach so maybe they are establishing who is the...
Well I bought the kubotai on Saturday and on Monday I noticed one of the Zebra Loach had his dorsal fin missing. So today I bought some Melafix to treat it. I'm now watching the same loach fighting with one of the kubotai. It's been going on for ages now and they seem to be really biting each...
Hi all
I'm considering buying 4 Botia Kubotai to add to my long established tank but I just want to make sure there are no compatibility problems before I do. Currently have the following
1 Bristlenoe Pleco
5 Bosemani Rainbows
4 Gold Tetra
12 Neon Tetra
2 Siamese Algae Eaters
6 Zebra Loach...
