hello all,
i've had my tank + betta for about a week now, and just did a water change after being advised to make sure i'm doing weekly 50% water changes.
i did a water test with my masterkit, and here are the results after a fresh water change:
pH: 6.6
ammonia: 1.0 ppm
nitrites: 0 ppm...
thank you! i am going to test the ammonia reading after work today. if it's still there, i'll do another 75% water change since i just did one yesterday to remove excess nitrates.
i'll go ahead and remove the trumpet snail after work as well.
hello everyone,
i just bought some java moss and wisteria for my 5 gallon freshwater tank. i only keep a nerite snail inside of it right now. i just performed a water change and the ammonia is a little too high to add a betta (it's about ~0.25 ppm, so i'd rather not risk it).
it looks like a...
alright, the average hardness of my water is about ~23 ppm from the tap. online it says bettas need 70-100 ppm, but obviously i have gotten a lot of wrong information online. what is the best hardness for bettas?
i'll make sure to do that. i must have gotten a lot of wrong information online. however, i did not use tablespoons— i used teaspoons. i miss-wrote it. apologies.
what good alternatives are there instead of API quick start? or is there anything i can add to the quick start that helps establish the beneficial bacteria? not that i plan to start a new tank anytime soon, this is mainly for curiosity's sake.
i will keep that in mind about the amount of food...
thank you.
i had no idea that GH was something i needed to test for; i had heard of water hardness/softness but was unsure how to check for it. i will pick up a kit to test it this weekend and see whether or not my water is suitable for bettas at all.
yes, the water is very low. this was...
