Thanks Essjay I will carry on with my weekly water changes and increase it to 50% and see how I get on (I don't use any fertiliser)

Ok, so did a 50% water change last night, going forward would you recommend that I do a water change every couple of days, and if so should I keep it at 20% or increase to 50% until the nitrate drops to below 20?
