    Buddies for Black Neon Tetras

It looks awful right now. The fish are happy, but it’s pretty rough right now! Maybe when the plants are looking a little better.

I think I am going to go with a trio of pearl gourami! Thank you so much!

    Buddies for Black Neon Tetras

Pearl gourami are beautiful. I’ll keep them in mind. I’m assuming that a single pearl gourami would be ideal here. I know gourami groups can be tricky. The rasbora species you mention have always been on my list, too, and I just haven’t ever got any. Maybe this is a good time to look into them.

    Buddies for Black Neon Tetras

Thanks for the info, Byron. Very informative as always. I will forget the angelfish. I want to do right by any species I get. I am not very familiar with pencilfish. I’ll give them a look over. Im assuming they are a schooling species? Am I correct that the gourami have health issues, or did I...

    Buddies for Black Neon Tetras

Hey everyone. I’m looking for some suggestions for tank mates for my 26 black neon tetras. My aquarium is a 60 gallon tank. My ph stays pretty close to 7.4 but I have very soft water (I do not have the numbers on me right now). I keep the temp around 77 degrees. It is a planted tank which is...

Cherry Shrimp With No Lid/DIY Lid Suggestions?

Apparently my Lowe’s carries it and can cut it for free! This is what I shall do then.

Oh! Good idea! If I can find any around me this may be a great solution.

Cherry Shrimp With No Lid/DIY Lid Suggestions?

Hello again, everyone! I have a little 3.5 gallon tank I got at petsmart for twenty dollars. It comes with a little filter and the world’s worst light. It is three tiny LEDS. One LED is blue, another red, and one is white. Clearly, I don’t think I’ll be able to grow anything in it. I am running...

    2 Male Bettas

Definitely! I just didn’t want anyone to read this thinking that it’s always a good option.

    2 Male Bettas

Even with females you have to be cautious. I used to have a sorority tank with females all raised up together from fry to adulthood. There was still a lot of fin nipping. I lost a few to fights. Granted, it was a much smaller tank than the one OP is planning, but females do not necessarily get...

    2 Male Bettas

Sure, anything might work, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it should be put to chance. While this is a large aquarium, unless it is heavily planted with obstructed lines of sight, the fish would likely still get to each other. Even with plants, though, you may find that the presence of the...

3.5 months in and I’m losing my mind

I guess I’ll give it a try then! Worst case scenario is just water changes until parameters are back in order anyway.

3.5 months in and I’m losing my mind

I think my tap water has a small amount of nitrate, about 5ppm, but I’ve only done one water change when I accidentally added more ammonia than I meant to. I’m nervous about adding fish without the nitrite processing in 24 hours or less. There won’t be plants in this tank to help with the...

3.5 months in and I’m losing my mind

There are no fish in the tank. I shake the bottles thoroughly. I bought the kit in September. Expiration dates are all in 2021. I am now getting nitrite to zero ppm within 48 hours. It went to zero within 24 hours one time but now it is back to 48 hours!

It’s totally empty except for water and heater and a Fluval filter.
