I am blessed to have a good LFS. My bad! :)
Most smaller LFS’s have a lot better advice/tips. I would never trust say a PetCo to tell me what I needed to get.

They are pretty much compatible with any with (almost, there are a few exceptions) fish, as long as you have room. :)
And, guppies are compatible with goldfish. I’d say ask your LFS, or the forum, if you are planing a tank, And what to stock it with. :)

I would just say, no. People often think that fake plants are easier, and cheaper, but in the long run you will find more joy out of getting live...
Oh, gotcha! I recommend trying to find sort of a darker color of noodle. You don’t want to have a great looking tank with bright orange noodles...
You can do that, but there’s no need for the pool noodles. ;)

I could definitely think he’s not under the sand, that would be very unlikely. If I had to guess, I’d say he was either, 1. In the filter, or, 2....

Live plants will grow in gravel, but not as well if you had sand in there. (IMO)
If you want shrimp, they prefer sand. My cherry shrimp will...
