Can I use clove bud oil instead of clove oil to euthanize a fish? My betta has late-stage dropsy and unfortunately, I think I will have to euthanize him.

Is it best to euthanize? Should I take a shot at medicating at the very least or is that just going to prolong his suffering? I'm fine to do so if it's the right choice. his condition, not looking very good, still pretty responsive though :(

I've had the same pellets for around 6 months and I've heard that it's best to replace food around that time. I still have a lot left though, should I just replace it?

Water quality is good, eats, and swims around fine. Just noticed that his stomach seems to be more grey/round today (maybe I'm imagining things). I want to make sure there's nothing wrong with him. Btw, his fins don't look the best because he used to be in a 1-gallon tank.
