    Cory Dying

hey guys, thanks for your help, that's a huge relief. They only get bloodworm once a week, but with the neons eating the sinking pellets I have been dropping in some extra to make sure the corys get enough. I'll cut back and call for some daphnia tomorrow. Would they be likely to eat any other...

    Cory Dying

Oh, a couple more points. The first cory didn't have any barbels when I bought him and never grew or acted like a typical cory. The second one its barbel's were fine and acted normally up to finding it at the surface.    I'm not sure if it's relevant but the past few weeks I've been having a...

    Cory Dying

Hi All, I bought a 240l aquarium in Feb last year and all has been going well up to last week. I'm concerned that I've lost 2 false julii cory in the space of a week, so I was wondering if anyone could help me pin down the problem?   The first one was floating upside down at the surface with...

    Cory Fry

Thanks Lock man, I usually do a water change twice a week on that tank, but must confess to letting it slide a little. With all the young shrimp in there it takes ages checking the water I've taken out etc. I did a water change a few days ago before putting them in, I'll do another later.   Hi...

    Cory Fry

Hi All, I've found 2 cory fry in my main tank, which I've managed to net out. They're now in my 35l shrimp breeding tank but I'm not sure how long they'll be able to stay in there. The tank has been up and running since mid Jan so it's well cycled with live plants, moss and a sand substrate...

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Hey Bubbles, great tank!   Could you not take some of the bog wood out and soak it in fresh water for a couple of days? It would probably help if you could rule it out as the cause. My bog wood did the same but cleared within a couple of weeks.

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Great stuff Mamashack. they can actually be very entertaining as well as excellent cleaners. If you don't have any luck on ebay I could let you have some young ones for the price of postage. i hope I'm not breaking any rules by saying that?

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Hey Mamashack,   Thank you. Yeah the shrimp are doing fine with the platies. I only added 5 adult shrimp to the main tank just in case, but they're doing really well and they're actually breeding in there. Not sure how many young they've had but they're growing rather quickly, faster than the...

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Oh, one more thing. I thought I'd be fine with the cory because everything I've read says to breed them you place them in a tank on their own and do water changes, replacing with cold water to simulate the rainy season. I also read that they're likely to eat the eggs so didn't think they'd breed...

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Hi LeahMay,   Thanks for the reply! Yeah I thought that maybe the case. The guppy (should be 11 not 12) were an impulse buy as I made the mistake of taking my nephew to the LFS. He wanted some with black tails and some with yellow so I bought 4 of each. Then I ordered some RCS off ebay, when...

    Hi All, Another Newbie

Hi All, I'm Paul and I've recently caught the fish-keeping bug! I bought my nephew a 35l tank and a male betta in January hoping it would stop him from winding-up my puppy. It worked a little, but as I was the one taking care of the tank (and paying for everything) I kinda got into it!   Last...
