PH has been staying constantly around 7.4-7.6. So i out gassed my source water by leaving in a bucket - in all honesty i hadnt done it for a while. The pH matched the tank :) Fish are still doing v. Well. My concern has gone :) still the odd flash but no other symptoms... Gonna give it another...

What are you ammonia levels and nitrites looking like? If youve got no way to test yet i'd err on the side of caution and do another big water change today or tomorrow. Just before the water change maybe see if you can take a water sample to your fish store.

I second the use of assassin snails! I had about 20 pest snails so i added 2 assassins and in a couple of months the snail problem had gone :) 70l tank with a 60cm x 30cm footprint Id recommend 2 or 3 assassins :) theyre inexpensive, look super cool, require a mate to breed unlike pest snails...

Just to add, how many apistos and of what sex are you planning? They get very territorial. Youre best having 4-5 caves and then 3-4 females will choose one each. You can then add one male. He'll patrol the tank guarding all of them. The females will keep their cave clean by fanning out waste...
