To my knowledge, it converts the ammonia into ammonium, and by the time it reverts back to ammonia, the beneficial bacteria has converted it to nitrate. However, if that's incorrect or outdated, please let me know o:
Magnus has had issues with fin biting and fin rot for the past few weeks. After extra water changes and adding cover didn't help, I tested the water and found that my well water is at .25 ammonia. I ordered Seachem Prime and have been adding it with new water, but he's still not looking so...

That moss looks dead to me. If you find any green spots in it, though, you can trim them off and try to grow them.
Too much exposure to the salt can harm your current betta, though. If he's not showing signs of your last betta's illness, I'd push toward getting the water back to...
