    Adding To My Malawi Tank

Hi all, I'm back again for some expert advice as I just cant decide what to do  My Malawi's have been in for almost a year, I've had three baby labs which will be going into the main tank soon but other than that, no breeding and I'm still understocked. My current set up is: 260l...

Thanks :) I moved her last night, she's doing ok but the male chasing her again so I assume it wont be long before she's holding again. Definitely just 3 fry, doing well :) Vicki

    She's Spat Her Fry!

There are at least 3 now, I would say she's spat them all as she's eating normally and she doesn't have that holding look about her. There is sand on the bottom of the tank... Although I've seen two of the fry coming out to eat mums food so think they'll eat up if I only put a little in at a...

    She's Spat Her Fry!

Hi all,in the end I did move her (my yellow lab), last Wed and she's just spat today. So far I can only see two, one in a rock hole and one in a fake plant. I put a tiny bit of food in for her, which she ate straight away. I'd like to start the fry on Hikari first bites, but when? Will I have...

    240L Good Enough?

I run two ex1200 on my 260 litre. I only had one running for 4 months though but the fish were still about 1-2 inches and under stocked.

Could My Yellow Lab Be Holding? **pics Added**

Thanks! I've put some bunched up straws in and a fake plant, tank looks horrendous but I would at least like to see little fish swimming around, even if most do get eaten... Wondering how long it'll be now before she spits...

Could My Yellow Lab Be Holding? **pics Added**

Thanks, just added some pics to OP. Do you think it's just one in there? Would you assume she will spit soon? I've put some straws in for now, will go and get a few more rocks tomorrow.

Could My Yellow Lab Be Holding? **pics Added**

Thanks! I went out to the car to fetch my glasses, put them on and she seemed intrigued enough to come over. Pretty sure I saw a tiny fry in there! How long would they usually hold the actual fry for? Guessing this little one will get gobbled though this time :-( I have a smaller tank I was...

Could My Yellow Lab Be Holding? **pics Added**

I haven't been able to get a decent pic of her as she keeps hiding and swimming away whenever I go near the tank, which means it's also hard to look into her mouth. From what I've seen I would say I cant see anything in her mouth but what made me wonder in the first place was when I noticed a...

Welcome To My New Fish :) Pic Heavy

Sorry I've been away and not updated lately. I've had my fish for 6 months now :hyper: I have no idea where the time has gone! I lost a bristle nose about a month ago, no symptoms or damage, just dead :-( Checked all water conditions etc and the other two BN are still ok, so maybe he sat on...

    What Frozen Food To Feed?

I currently feed NLS pellets in the morning and a malawi mix flake in the evening. I've been looking into brine shrimp, I know blood worm is meant to be bad but would brine shrimp be ok? How often if ever should I feed, once a week? Or is there a better type of food to supplement. The fish...

At What Age Are Most Cichlids Sexually Mature?

Just wondering if I am lucky enough to ever get fry, how long that would be (they are only little themselves at the moment). How big, or what age are most cichlids sexually mature and do they start showing any signs before successfully breeding? I have yellow labs, elong mpanga, and afra...

Gill Flukes Or Normal For Labs ( Now All Dead)

Sorry for your losses. I have just started a Malawi tank (after shutting tank down in Jan) when I had tropical fish they kept dying, water was fine etc etc. TBH local fish shops are more trouble than they are worth (with some exceptions). I ordered my fish online this time and so far so good.
