Why would you sent the petition to the designer? Don't bother sending ANYTHING to the designer, e-mails, letters, petitions, etc. Some people just don't care about the welfare of animals and you are just going to have to accept that. You can't control what other people do, sell, or think is...

Real plants always make a tank look better, as long as you have enough light for them. There are some real easy to grow plants that don't require too much light, you could try a few of them. I'd give you the names of the ones I have, but i'm afraid my memory would fail me and i'd screw it all...

I agree that you've got a few too many fish in there. But that's not what you asked so anyway, boiling a live plant will definately kill it. As far as I know all you can do is rinse it really well to get the snails off. Anyway, interesting decorations you've got going on there :) good luck

Well, if you are really worried about the danios, you are going to have to hold off on getting more bettas so you can somehow accomodate the danios you already have in an appropriate tank. It's not your fault you ended up with fish you didn't have room for, but I still kind of think that now...

i've had similar scares. I had a nasty incident in where my betta ended up on the kitchen counter writhing around. After swearing and screaming I managed to shovel him up with the net and he was okay. Thank God for fast reflexes, huh? :rolleyes:

my understanding is that it can be contagious, which seems counterintuitive because it's really an internal infection, not something you would think would be transferred through the water etc. But anyway, yeah i'd definately quarantine it. here's the link to a site saying it can be contagious...
