Thanks. I'll increase the size of the water changes, I've always done around 20% as that's typically what everyone recommends.
The use of RODI water is because I live in a very hard water area, its off the scale when tested, along with high silicates. The water cutting is just to reduce it to...
So, like a lot of people here I'm facing a constant battle with algae. I've attached a couple of photos that show the state of my tank and the amount of algae that is accumulating on the glass and rocks. The tank isn't usually this barren, I was in the middle of tearing it down to clean...
Unfortunately it wouldnt work without further modifications. The plastic pass throughs go above and below the tank glass i.e. there are no flat surfaces to attach the glass. You'd have to saw off the protrusion either in tank or below it. I've ordered some double tap valves for the tank outfeeds...
My tank (Eheim Incipria 530) has two 'in tank' filter outlets that pass through the base of the tank and into the cabinet. Long question short, is there anyway of 'blocking' these outlets closed? I dont know if a manufacturer makes a bung or cap that can be fitted and close them off. Or, does...
So, I ordered a new fish for my tank and specified a size similar to the existing fish. I can only presume they didn't have sufficient stock so they sent me a fish from a few sizes up. The new fish is a beast! at least three or four times the size of my others but he's a fine specimen...
The tank (Incipria 530) has a two pre-cut filter inlet points at the bottom of the tank like the picture below so I'm not sure the prefilter would fit. I'd have to find a way of fitting the
prefilter to the tank inlets. They're only £10 though so I've bought one to try.
Thanks, I'll give that a go. I always have my filter at 100% due to the additional purigen that I've added to ensure a high flow rate. The tank is quite large at 550L and even at 100% there isnt always a current at the far end of the tank.
This is the filter layout. I have ehfimech and...
Yeah, I clean both out each time I clean the filter. I clean the filter out each month and replace the disposable floss section.
I suppose the issue is why isnt the filter actually capturing it? Is it unreasonable to expect to prevent all dirt (however small) from passing back out the water...
