    Yes this is one of my concerns too and I've had success in the past by doing exactly that, raising them together. What I'm planning on doing this time is adding all the smaller tetras first as well as the Apistos, bristlenoses etc (think I'll get a decent sized shoal of Bleeding Hearts too)...
