Do nitrates provide all the needed nutrients for plants? Or are they lacking in something that root tabs and liquid ferts offer? this is a comparison between nitrates and tabs/liquid fert so if u can leave CO2 out of it that would be helpful, thanx

I know 0 is best. That aside, I’m reading below 20, below 40, ppm nitrate is good for most freshwater. So which is it? I know there’s exceptions. I’m talkin broad. So is 40 any worse than 20?

A school of 10 neons in a 40 long will behave differently in a 75 long. They’re both healthy, just act differently. So bigger isn’t always better.

Will Amazon sword plants pull the same amount of nitrates out of the water if planted in sand as opposed to a larger pebble gravel?

Chicago water tastes and smells disgusting. Should I give up fishkeeping or are there fish that can handle it? Or should I buy spring water for water changes? Oh yeah I tried letting it set for a day and two and still smells and taste the same.
