Stocking Suggestions For A 3Ft Community Tank

I have a 3ft tank (190 litres) and I've had up to 20 tetras and 12 cories in it before. Gouramis are a great choice ~ I have 5 honey gouramis, and they add a great deal of colour and grace to my tank. You can see my current stock in my signature below. I would also look at cardinal tetras...

Thinking Of Adding A Single Male Swordtail

It's quite a chilled tank at the moment, so a bit of activity might be nice ;)

Thinking Of Adding A Single Male Swordtail

I am thinking of adding a single male lyretail swordtail to my community tank (my current stock is in my signature). Does anyone see any problems with doing this? Thanks

    Shrimps Or Pleco

Great picture of your amano. 100% convinced to go with them rather than a pleco.

    Shrimps Or Pleco

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll start out with 5 amano shrimp, and add later if I think I need more. I like the idea of having something in the tank that's not immediately apparent, but is visible on closer inspection.

    Shrimps Or Pleco

Thanks for the replies. I like the look of amano shrimps, and the fact that they don't breed is a plus for me. How many amanos would you recommend getting? I'll look into honey gouramis, or think of 3 dwarfs.

    Shrimps Or Pleco

I'm coming to the end of a fishless cycle for my 190 litre community tank. I've more or less decided my stocking list, but I'm needing some advice on algae eaters. I'm thinking of getting some shrimp or a small pleco. I have listed my specs below, and was wondering if anyone had ideas on what i...

Questions About Sand And Some Other Things

Thanks for the reply. The seaweed does come to the top when the sand is agitated. I guess it's just a matter of keeping going till I get it all. It'll be a long process, but looks like it's got to be done. I'll check with the supplier to make sure there is no soap in the ammonia solution...

Questions About Sand And Some Other Things

Hi all, I am just about to set up my new 190 litre freshwater tank and have a few questions. First of all, after searching high and low I found a supplier for aquarium sand (I live in Korea, and it doesn't seem to be popular with aquarists here). It arrived yesterday, and I immediately noticed...

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

Good stuff folks. I think I'll be adding a dwarf gourami then. I think am also veering towards the rasboras. The colours look more striking than the zebra danios and I've read that they keep a nice tight school, which I think will look great.

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

Do you think a dwarf gourami would be a good addition to this community tank? At the moment, I'm thinking of: 6 bronze corys 12-15 zebra danios or harlequin rasboras 8 cherry barbs or 5 banded barbs.

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

After a bit of looking around, I've found a place that sells sand - a bit more expensive than other substrates, but it'll be worth it. Thanks again for all the advice. I'll keep you all posted on how things develop.

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

I'm having real problems finding sand. I live in Korea, and sand for aquariums doesn't seem too popular here. The closest I've been able to find is a coral sand and gravel aggregate, which claims the gravel is 2-3mm. However, I was thinking if it's coral, it's going to be sharp which won't be...

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

Thanks very much, newbie. I have a 2 year old boy (partly why I'm setting up the tank) and he never leaves me alone when I'm trying to type, so I understand your situation completely. I'll check out some of the cichlid species you mentioned. I'm going to get fine gravel and make sure it's as...

Stocking A New 190 Litre Tank

In reply to Terry. I'm going to use a gravel substrate - some light and some dark brown. I'm going to keep the stones quite small.
