    Aqua Scaping Photos Please

Depending on your tastes of course (and I'll not take offence if this isn't your style!!!), have you seen my video of making a 3D rock wall for your tank? I've done several in different styles and techniques with two objectives... first is to get away from the simple plain photograph backing...

    Woohoo!!! Breeding Malawis?

OK... Everything seemed quite tranquil and when I netted her back out of the breeding trap, she showed no signs of concern for her kids, and didn't try to protect them again by scooping them up into her mouth again. When I have 11 malawi in there, and this is the only sign of courtship and...

    Woohoo!!! Breeding Malawis?

Woohoo!!! It's now been over three weeks with no further developments, so last night I cautiously (to avoid any distress) managed to isolate the female into a breeding enclosure. (a fine mesh net box over a plastic frame). My theory was that with 10 other malawi going crazy, and the force of...

    Woohoo!!! Breeding Malawis?

I agree with the comment that females are usually a very dull colour, silver or grey... this is what I've always beleived... but the supplier made the claim that they are able to sex the fish with reasonable accuracy at the size I was buying, and that the females still show good colouration...

    Woohoo!!! Breeding Malawis?

Thank you for the feedback Colin... much of what you said is what I beleived to be the case, although I thought the male fertlized the eggs where she lays them and THEN collects them in her mouth... With regards to your other observations... The blue one I purchased as a Nagara from a supplier...

    Woohoo!!! Breeding Malawis?

Partly in celebration (?) but also to seek opinions from more experienced aquarists, I think my Peacock Malawi are breeding, but it's not how I expected things to be and seek knowledge from the more enlightened ones on the forum... Just before Christmas, I decided to convert my largest tank...

    New Kribs...

A few weeks ago, I decided to add a few new kribensis into my medium tank as the current pair didn't seem to have much luck breding... I added the new fish and quickly identified which were trouble makers and which pair seems to get along well... the trouble makers were moved into a smaller...

    DIY 3D Aquarium background.

If I'm using a single colour across the entire structure like the rear wall, then I layered up all the pieces and did final shaping and countouring, before cementing over the whole structure. However, if you are making structures with multicoloured layers like my monoliths and rockwork across...

    Back after a long break....

I've (hopefully) now finally posted my own video of how I made my 3D background for my aquarium and linked it through a nerw post on the forum here.... Please feel welcome to take a look! https://www.fishforums.net/threads/diy-3d-aquarium-background.477184/

    DIY 3D Aquarium background.

Finally, as promised please enjoy my video showing how to make a budget 3D rock wall background for your aquarium. Considering that a moderate sized background might cost you around £300+ ($450), I think this is a great option, plus the benefit that you can design it to include whatever...

    Back after a long break....

My brother used slate chippings in a tank instead of sand or gravel... but was spread across the bottom. You'll probably have all the weight focussed on small footprints which might cause stress in the glass. My advice would be to have a go at making a 3D wall in my style... if it doens't work...

    Back after a long break....

Youtube... do a search for 3D aquarium backgrounds.... some are instruction films.. others are just shop purchased....

    Back after a long break....

There's numerous ways online showing how to do it... the easiest way is the crazy paving look.. it's quick and simple but not quite as effective...

    Back after a long break....

I agree... I was horrified when I saw a video of a guy in the states who paid that amount for a background... I'll accept that it DID look like good quality... but I make mine to my own design and ideas for around $50?

    Back after a long break....

Hi Jenny; Sorry about the delay in responding to your comments and question... These were quick photos taking during the rebuild which is now completed and a video of the process (low quiality filming I'm afraid) will be posted here... To answer your question though, yes it's 3D and has very...
