I was given a cae when I was supposed to be buying otos. He was in the tank with my mated pair of angelfish for months but once he got as big as my male, he started attacking him. I flushed the cae but he did some damage to my angel's tail and had run him to exhaustion. Get rid of them.
Looks like black hair algae, you can put hydrogen peroxide in a syringe and put it right on each tuft or you can use Flourish Excel to kill it. There a good videos on youtube about it. When it dies, it turns kinda of pinkish. Check your water temp, make sure it's not too high. I keep my Angel...
Plecos are unique...not really ugly, no really cute, they look a little prehistoric to me, like they haven't evolved as much as other tropicals. I keep ottos, don't have a pleco in any of my tanks.
