Hello everyone I'm back on the forum my old tanks went with the ex girlfriend and I now have a new tank a little 27 litre tank and been set up with water and tapsafe and there is a milky tint to the water ... Slih&tly confused as this has never happened to me before ... Please help and can you...

ok so how do i get hold of blackwater extract? and i have some oto's at the moment but they havent done much damage to the algae it really is spreading fast though :/ cant i buy that green away product or will this kill all the plants aswell? Karl.

hey guys, Ive got some plants from a friend god knows what they are and they've got algae growing on them, but once it gets to a little tuft it drops off the plant and is growing in a ball on the sand ? the other type of algae is black and covering another one of my plants. can it be cured...

Success! guys jus to inform you all that my search for nitrite is over as this morning i have 0.25 ppm of nitrite in my tank :) i guess i just had to wait and not panic :) Karl.

aerated as in oxygen in the water ? if so then yes as its filtration system is designed especially around this as it has a waterfall effect. Karl.

it took one day and it stayed at 0.25 ppm, my ph is 7.8 and my temp is at the higher end of 26 degrees. this is not a fish in cycle unless one or two snails counts as this? Karl.

it was at 2.0 ppm as i heard people cycle their tanks with 0.25 ppm and others at 4.0 ppm so i went half way. Karl.

but what about the abscence of the nitrite? and the steady level of ammonia at 0.25 ppm all the way through ? Karl.

ok brill and will it just be dechlorinated water? or do i need to drain some out of the tank their in? Karl.
