I have about 12 assorted neocaridina. Some cherries, a few red rilis, 2 or 3 jades, and some RCS culls I bought from a breeder. The only time I've had a berried shrimp in my tank was when I bought one already berried at the LFS. Lately I've been watching my red rili shrimp--she had a nice big...
Did some major redecorating. Added a tone with adhered moss to right back wall and moved Java moss driftwood to back left wall. Trying some cholla wood with adhered fissidens to create a little treescape. With the foreground cleared out I can get better looks at the shrimpies.
I'm thinking about building a custom tank for a specific space. Anyone done this or have plans to do it? The tank I want to build is 36"L x 15"W x 12"D. It would hold about 28 gallons. By my calculations I'll need to have the glass panels cut as below. I'll use 1/4" high clarity glass and I'll...
I finally got a TDS meter. The reading from my tank was over 400. Is this why my neocaridina don't seem to be breeding? From the tap/well it's around 290. But water changes don't seem to bring it down much. My tank is 9.7 gallons so I only change 10% per week.
Yes his body is still in the shell. But it looks a little slimy. I mean more than usual. He's in a cup of tank water now. I'm watching for signs of life.
My mystery snail escaped my tank. Which is 85% covered so that's crazy. I just found him on the floor, his shell was dry. Don't know how long he was there but how long does it take for a snail out of water to die? I loved this snail. I put him back in the tank in hopes he's still alive.
I really don't vacuum the bottom anymore either mostly because I don't want to uproot plants. But I do move plants around occasionally. And I always check vac'd water for life before pouring down the drain or into my houseplants. I didn't test water after the replanting but I did do a big water...
Thanks for the replies. I did see a few come out of hiding last night. They were keeping a low profile. But i do think my big beautiful red female is gone. She is nowhere to be found. Luckily I have 15 new shrimp on the way today from a breeder in San Francisco.
On Saturday I did my weekly water change and did a partial rescape if my 9.7 gallon. Just moved some dwarf lotus to the back and crypts to the front. Between then and now (Monday evening) it seems my cherry shrimp have disappeared. I can only locate one of about 15 in the tank now. I also see...
