    first thing I would look at is water parameters, ammonia, nitrite & nitrate. If you haven't got a water test kit most lfs will do one for a small fee. Also check water temp this time of year. Thats a good starting point when you fish all start looking a bit of colour. BTW How long has tank...

    I brought him when he was about 15" long and that was about 8 months ago, but a lot depends on the size of the tank and the way the fish eats. As I have said mine has a hearty apetite and this has helped his growth. Cheers David :fish:

    I have found that they are actually quite tolerent of co specifics, I have 5 different species and have never had any ongoing trouble just the occasional nip. David :fish:

    Cheers CFC Mine got to about 20" and is still growing, he is stunning but I didn't realise that large fire eels went for that sort of money!!. I don't seem to have the feeding problems that effect so many fire eels as mine is hand fed and has eaten 14 prawns onw after another. I will post a pic...

    Ammonia Levels

    The other thing you could do is buy one of those products which contain the nitrobactria, since you have ammonia they will have the food to live on and hopefully drop the levels that way. Also small daily waterchanges will help. Hope this helps David :fish:
