My Betta lives very well in my tank (260ltr). His tank mates are a few Platies & 60+ Tetras including Penguins, Neons & Glowligths. He's been in the tank for nearly 2 years without any problems. Reading some of the previous posts I must have one of the most peaceful Bettas ever.

I changed from gravel to sand in my 260ltr' The Corys love it. I used the same method as described by Fluttermouth & it worked perfectly. It took me about 5 hours but it was so worth it. As long as you reuse as much of the original water as you can the fish won't get too stressed.

I have a tank full of Tetras 60+ (260ltr). The Penguin Tetras and the Glass Catfish shoal very well but my Glowlights tend to stick together at the back of the tank. 

I have a 260ltr tank with over 60 tetras. I run an Aquamanta 300 external filter. The cost new is less than £100 and it works very well. Its easy to clean, replacement parts from LFS are easily obtainable & piming it after removal is simple. All in all a good external filter.

I have a 260ltr tank fully cycled (over 1 year) with a  50 tetras (small) of various types. I have 10 penguins. Recently one has become unsociable, she spends most of her time in the centre of the tank mid water. When any of the other penguins come close she chases them away occasionally...

Looking at items available in my LFS I found a submersible UL light & from the look of it I assume it goes in the main tank. my questions are - Would one be an asset to my tank & why? What does it do? Where should I place it should I buy one? I have a 240Ltr tank with Tetras.

Thanks for the advice. My tank (240L) only has 3 plants and they all appear to be growing well. I don't have a CO2 system so I guess at this time I don't really need one. But I will bear it in mind for the future.
