How do you grow plants and moss balls, like in a LFS without any fish in the tank? Do you have to add lots of additives etc? do you need a filter or just a pump to circulate the water? Cheers Si

Yep, thats the one (that will teach me for not checking the link :rolleyes: ) It doesn't indicate what size of tank they would be suitable for though, unless it's the same as for conventional ones. Their not too expensive either, I have seen them for less than £40. Si

Thanks paul_v_biker. I bought one today, and it took me a couple of hours to fit. The problem is that the tank has an integral hood filter which sits about 3" above the tank so I had to modify this to get it to fit! It all seems to be working now so I will see how it goes. Si

Thanks for the replys. I went to my LFS today and they told me that the pond ones actually work differently. The bulb in an aqaurium uv unit is alot closer to the water. I have seen an external heater made by Hydor. See this link They look good, but the only thing it doesn't say is what...

Thanks for that super fast reply Phantom Thief :cool: They are white and about 3 - 5 mm long. I have been having a small amount of algae on the glass to. I will have to feed them a little less then, its just the food that I put in their now only lasts a few seconds (greedy danio's!!)...

I would have to agree with dwarfs with regard to dwarf gouramis being un-healthy. I have had 3 red and blue neon gouramis which have all died due to what I now beleive to be bacterial infections. My female dwarf gourami has a ulcer on her head (bacterial) and I think that the rest of my tank...
