Yes thought this myself.....Actually think heater been off about 5 days.
Scissortail was dead this morning but fluffy stuff on Swordtail nearly gone.
All other fish still looking and acting fine.
Monitoring the situation with crossed fingers.
Noticed today my Gold Gourami had a few white patches on hiim but was eating and acting as normal.
A couple of hours later he was totally lifeless...Dead.
Fished him out and realised the water was cold....Heater had been unplugged.
Temperature down to 18C so have just plugged heater back in to...
Could be phosphates...I do run Rowaphos in external but not often enough really.
Change bulbs every 9 months or so.
And i do use tapwater (dechlorinated).
Will try the lighting cycle you`ve suggested too.
:thanks:
Lights on 6 hours....New bulb....Nitrates <10... Feed pinch of flake twice daily and 1 pinch of catfish pellets daily.
King British....Overstocked tank but parameters fine.
Anyone have a way of removing this other than scrubbing.
Every month or so all my ornaments are green.
Not that easy to clean and scrubbing removes the colouring too.
Anything i can soak them in ? or ?
No other algae problems btw.
:thanks:
New ornaments and white stones in gravel starting to show a green tinge.
All parameters fine.
Ammonia and nitrite 0. Nitrates <10.
Is this caused by the plants ?
Or is it just normal with or without plants ?
Any other cause ?
I used about 50% of old tank water plus all old filter media.
Everything else was new.
Something definitely gone wrong.
Nitrogen cycle well underway again.
Just wondering best way to manage it while full of fish.
Thanks
Hi
I have just posted again and my ammonia and nitrites are still there....Never thought this would happen myself.
Thought if anything it would be better adding a better filter system.
As for the RO water. No i normally use all tap. The reason i have been using some RO (<10% tank volume) was...
Swapped my tank over 2 weeks ago with about 30 fish.
Swapped media from internal to a new external filter and renewed gravel.
Tests showed ammonia at a level of about 1 - 1.5 so started water changes of about 20-25% daily.
Nitrites were 0.
About 3-4 days ago nitrites have started to creep...
Had my tank running for over 2 years...110 litre.
Was looking a bit of a mess so i decided to give it a good clean and a makeover.
I completely emptied tank, cleaned it , put fresh gravel and ornaments in and added an external cannister filter in place of the old internal.
Old internal had 3...
