That's great then, thanks. I'll have a look into it.

    Need suggestions for replacement filter

You missed my comment above to one of the other quoted answers: "No, that's just a few of the fish, I have a high bioload in fact - there are 6 rasboras, 6 pygmy corries, 6 celestial pearl danios, 2 suckermouths, and 3 nerites"

    Need suggestions for replacement filter

Thanks, appreciate the suggestion. I wasn't totally taken with the old filter TBH, which was why I thought it was a good opportunity to consider alternatives. It was OK, but I felt like greater flow would be good if possible. No, that's just a few of the fish, I have a high bioload in fact -...

    Need suggestions for replacement filter

I have a 68L tall and narrow hexagonal tank. It was supplied with a top mounted external filter - basically a long narrow box mounted in the lid fittings - with a long inlet pipe that served pretty well, but the motor just packed up. It was rated at 450L/h I can get a replacement pump motor but...

    I feel lied to

I think this is a common problem - I bought a Hygger light, which clearly stated in the Amazon listing and on the packaging that it would fit a 31-60cm tank. My tank is hexagonal, 43cm across corner to corner and 37cm side to side. The light was at least 5cm too long to fit across my tank in any...

Pretty sure my assassins have bred… don’t know much about them

Assassins were the bane of my life, and led me ultimately to tear down my tank and start afresh. I started with just 3 in a 60L tank, over a year they bred so prolifically that they were everywhere. When I tore down my tank, I had already cleared out several times, but I sold about 60 to the...

Lighting Help for Tall Hexagonal Planted Tank

Thanks for such a detailed response, that's really helpful. I don't seem to be able to disable just the blue, but I could run the 2nd light module with only red light and see if that makes a difference. Would you be able to share photos of the DIY LED strips in situ so I can visualise it a lot...

Lighting Help for Tall Hexagonal Planted Tank

Thanks - I posted in the TOTM thread - here's a couple of pics of my work in progress plus one to show how I've set the twin lights up - it's a snug fit and the support arms don't all work because of the tank shape, but I've joined them together using bamboo kebab sticks and cable ties, which...

Lighting Help for Tall Hexagonal Planted Tank

Thanks 10 Tanks, I think we have hit the right wattage per litre based on what you suggest and my 2 light setup - I'm at 45W and the tank is about 15 gallons. Time will tell if I need to add any more light.

🐠 TOTM VOTE NOW - December 2023 Tank of the Month Contest (16 gal & smaller)

Hi all This is my work in progress. Here is my 15-gallon community tank. After a devastating heater failure that cooked many of my community but left behind a massive number of assassin snails that were breeding like it was going out of fashion, I had to strip everything down and took the...
