We had one when I was a kid. The only thing I remember seeing was the clipping off of dead limbs and removing the suckers. I seriously doubt it was fertilized. Well, possibly it received nutrients from grass clippings that were piled up nearby. What a tree. When we were little we climbed in...
I think so. My guess is they are like us and like a variety. The only fish I have really noticed this with is the Archerfish. The other fish species seem to like a variety but it is very evident with the Archer who goes nuts if a new kind of bug is introduced.
I think your tank is beautiful! For sure, your fish love it. Sounds like you went high tech with a 'let's see' approach. Nothing wrong with that. At some point, you will realize that you are a 'victim' of your success and will have to make a decision. You could agree with your husband and...
Totally agree with @Fishmanic, I've had a Red Ear Slider since the 1990's and he lives a relaxed non-stressed life. A turtle was mugged by two snails. The cops asked him what did they look like and the turtle said, "I don't know, it all happened so fast!"
That's wonderful news! And Christine is back in Hollywood!!
I made an extension for my filter and it vents very quietly now. Used a lawn sprinkler fitting (elbow) on top. So happy you don't need a hammer.
I put my hands in the Fountain of Youth (of Ponce de Leon fame) in Saint Augustine, Florida. Really cool place but I aged another couple of minutes while doing it. Oh well.
I use both types. The one @Magnum Man is excellent. But, a few years ago I discovered the one below (or one just like it) since they change names etc. It is small but search and you will find larger ones. I have even connected their base to a larger filter. Works great and no clogging or...
It's like Christine the '58 Plymouth Fury! Does your filter look like this below? If so, check where the rigid airline tube joins the uplift socket. They are prone to debris being trapped in that area. Also, check the same area to ensure that the rigid airline tube isn't jammed into the...
I have used slate for many years with no affect on the water quality. It is great for breeding Angels. Rocks in general need to be checked first to ensure they don't alter the water. Granite is harmless. You can take a rock and pour some vinegar on it to see if there is any fizz. If so, pass...
In 2007 I was visiting up north and met a Nebraska wildlife agent who told me about a Piranha found in the discharge waters of a Missouri River power plant. They looked further and found an entire school of them. Whoever dumped them was a real horses @@@. People like that are ruining our hobby.
