    5 gallon is perfectly fine for a shrimp colony, go with the cherries and let them breed. If u want a schooling fish a group of boraras would be ok aswell.

    I think congo tetras would work. I see them in many planted tanks. They dont eat live plants. Maybe they have been confused with Buenos aires tetras which will eat plants but dont worry about congos, they are all good!

    Yea it isn't attached to the tank, just sits on it. Bigger fish might be able to knock it off, I couldn't tell you for sure.

    In my 20g I have a bamboo shrimp as my oddball they get around 3", look at vampire shrimp for your tank, filter feeders so very cool to watch and get pretty big, could do a couple of them if your tank suits.
