I am wanting to set up a dedicated tank for Discus or assorted cichlids and would like to get some feedback on which route to go. Any recommendations on size tank, favorite species, do’s & don’ts would be appreciated!
It seems that the smaller plecos sell better in the fish stores because they are cheaper and less intimidating for somebody’s 20 gal. tank. But people with 100+ gallon tanks and outdoor koi ponds don’t want a 2-3” pleco, so there’s an occasional demand for bigger ones.
My friend that has the fish store has a demand for larger plecos, so I offered to help him out. Eventually I will probably get a bristlenose or clown that won’t get so big.
They are beautiful, laid back fish. I would recommend getting 4-6 as they do much better in small schools. They also like to have some vegetation to hide out occasionally. I have always loved having gouramis in my community tank.
