your best bet for the long term is to invest in a RO unit and make your own RO water. Remember it needs to be remineralised afterwards. For freshwater fish a lot of people cut their RO water back with normal tap water.

what problems do you foresee having a background of caves danno? The only think i can think of is it will be pretty hard to catch a fish if you need to. Having said that, the whole background will not be fixed to the tank, it's just latched on with some cable ties, so if needs be can be taken...

another vote for cannisters, Modern cannister filters aren't hard to set up at all as a lot of models have priming devices (that's filling the filter with water so it can circulate the water in the tank when you turn the power on. If the filter was empty it won't be able to draw water in to...

i have a completely empty tank, taking my sweet time in deciding the occupants, maybe a species tank then :D Are there two colour morphs of M. chipokae? because most of the pictures and profiles i see on the net show a very blue cichlid, but some like this picture show a purple hue.

i'm getting a trigon too :) Definitely going to keep mbuna, thinking p.demasoi, and some yellow labs. I kinda like the look of M.johannii as well. But still need to so some research to see if they will all cohabit.

i think both males and females of pseudotropheus demasoni are similarly coloured and banded. So that's one monomorphic cichlid at least :) (but are the zebra's? i'm still learning )
