Youngsters Up The Filter?

I am sure my Youngster Platy's went up my powerful filter. I was told to put the end of a stocking toe tied over it but i find this makes the Filter very noisy and i am sure its over working it.

Any ideas how i can stop them being sucked up in other ways?

What kind of filter do you have? I've used some filter sponge before, in the intake, and it's worked very well.

Are you certain they went up your filter though- did you find any bodies or any live ones in the filter? If you just found the bodies, its likely they died of other causes and their bodies were then sucked up into the filter.

Most filters should not be strong enough to suck in the fry. I have my fry in their own tank, and they swim by the intake without a problem, even at first birth. They may be getting sucked in after they die of other causes.
