They do not seem to be part of the plant but they are really hard to dettatch! What are they? Have removed the plant temporarily just in case they are nasties!!!!
Does anyone know what they are?

ETA Just crossed my mind are they roots? no idea how this plant grows or even what it is! Came from LFS and was sold as suitable for tropical aquariums.

Yes they are roots of a sort.

A lot of plants like Ludwigia Repens and Cabomba put these out as they are just damn greedy and want too grow and grow, hence they are trying to fill their reserves by taking as much nutrient as they can.

My Ludwigia is a forest of white shoots sometimes and can get a little unsightly, but it is normal.
