What's this hard stuff that feels sorta like cristals that was on the tip of 2 leafs from a java fern?

I've seen this on another forum! No one seems to know exactly but they're galls that are supposedly caused by a virus that Java are susceptible to. Apparently its contagious between touching leaves....so you may have more. Keep removing the affected leaves as you see it appear....I'd be inclined to get rid of the whole thing and start again with a new plant
