Turtle Trouble

I have two red eared sliders and it appears as though they have finally gotten to mating age, i know because I found a rotten egg in the tank. But now the male is constantly trying to amte, and teh female does not want to. She is getting beat up pretty bad. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was just a phase and will pass? Or do I need to separate them?

Dont know much about turtles but i think if she is being picked on then she should be moved for her own health if nothing else.

Build a pond , that's where I'm putting our map turtle in the spring

THEN...oh then, maybe you could put both turtles in the pond, clean up their tank and put some fish in it!!
