Ok I got a question...I placed my filter cartridge in my friend's established tank for a week and I am about to transfer my 'seasoned' cartridge back to my tank. Her tank is a goldfish coldwater tank and mine is at about 80 degrees. If i take out the cartridge and put it in mine would the sudden change of temperature affect the bacteria on the seasoned cartridge? Any suggestions on how I can transfer?

No ,but it's good as your temp is higher and it will speed things up with the temp being higher.

What I was meant to say is it's fine, the higher temp will help it along faster.

You sure...because someone told me that the sudden change will kill the bacteria.

Never heard that before i've done it as I have two fancy goldfish and I used to take it out of mine and put it in at a higher temp, I thought it might of affected the bacteria if it was going in at an even lower temp.

Thanks for the re-assurance. I have to transfer it back tonight (actually in 1/2 hour)

Good luck with your new tank.
