Okay i'm almost a little embarrased to ask this and i'm not a beginner so I am just curious. I know when fish get sick a lot of the time a good cure is salt. Well I have read on some cures for fish diseases are epsom salt. Is that the same salt that is mentioned many times on here? Because I was thinking of buying some salt just in case of a unexpected disease. But I don't want to waste money on something I already have, because I do have a 4lbs carton of epsom salt. Thanks ;)

Don't feel stupid! Its better to ask a quesiton than to make a mistake and have to pay for it later on.

Aquarium salt is definately different than epsom salt. Unfortunately, my box doesnt say exactly what is in it, so I can't tell you what aquarium salt is, but there definately is a difference.

Just remember that not all fish are salt tolerant. Scaleless fish, catfish, eels, etc. won't appreciate any salt in their water.
