I'm thinking of adding 4 or 5 of these to my new tank after i cycle. I like the look of them and they stay small. How are they for fairly new tanks with community fish? Are they hardy? I have fairly hard water and a PH of 7.6. I keep my water temp at 78. Thanks.

Phantoms, both red and black, are sensitive to water problems. I would not put them in a recently cycled tank.

just to throw a spanner of contradiction in to the thread (it wouldn't be right with out it would it??)
The black phantoms were the 2nd fish to be added to our freshly cycled 2ft (a few revisions back) they are still going stron in the 4ft a year later.
Looking to get red ones for our next tank (I'll be keeping this in mind though
