I know I can't be the only one who is always on the lookout for a good book to read. So if you have some or just one that you really enjoyed, pls come recommend it. Maybe even post a little bit about what the book is about as well :)

I just got done reading a bunch of horror novels, so yeah, that's going to be what my first recommendations are lol.

The Rising, City of the Dead, Dead Sea, Castaways..... author- Brian Keene..... His writing style reminds me of those "torture-porn" horror movies, like Hostel, Saw, etc. Very graphic, very gorey and definitely not for those who don't like that kind of stuff.

The Rising & City of the Dead are about zombies with a slight twist on them. The Rising is the first one, and City of the Dead the 2nd.
Dead Sea is also a zombie book, but more traditional zombies. Written in 1st person view.
Castaways is about a group of reality show contestants who are on a Survivor type of show and well.. yeah.. very bad things start to happen to them.

The Road.... author Cormac Mccarthy
About a father and son trying to survive in America years after a terrible something happened that destroyed the world. The book is a very easy read. And just.... you just have to read it. It's a bit of a depressing read, so yeah... just be warned about that. There are also a few graphic parts in the book.
There's a movie coming out soon :)

Been a long time since I sat down with a book, but I do recall the horror novels by Author Dennis Wheatley..... I'm sure you'll enjoy those... almost hitchcock like ...supernatural etc... but very scary.... i.e. "The Devil rides out".... and then of course for normal detective type stuff, I did not read anything other than James Hadley Chase..... Excellent style.. I,m sure he'd commit a murder and get away with it..... brilliant. and of course no-one beats Louis l'a moor (spelling)??.... for a good Western.

Can't believe that we have no intellectuals on the forum...... Any other suggestions for Amulet.... surely somebody has read a good book in the past week or 3????

Oh I didn't mean recommend just for me lol...
I meant... if anyone has read a good book lately, then post about it here and recommend it to everyone :)

I read a lot - usually on my way to work.

Good books to try - Anything by Neil Gaiman but especially Neverwhere and American Gods (he also wrote Stardust and Coraline that are now movies too)

Terry Pratchett - The Disc World series (including the Wee Freemen etc) Funny, intelligent and good for all ages!

David Gemmell - Sadly this author died a while ago but he does have a lot of great heroic fantasy books out there. Start with Legend or his most recent 'Troy' trilogy.

currently i'm reading a new human, the startling discovery and strange story of the hobbits of flores indonesia by mike morwood and the last book i read was darkness in el dorado, how scientists and journalists devastated the amazon by patrick tierney.my wife is into books about archeology, egypt and oddball stuff like ripley's believe it or not so we have tons of books about stuff like that.

Here are the books i'm reading right now. I also like the moives but I like the books better.

The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum by Robert Ludlum & The Bourne Legacy, The Bourne Betrayal, The Bourne Sanction, The Bourne Deception (have not read yet) and The Bourne Objective (is not out yet) by Eric Van Lustbader.

Some books ive found to be excellent recently are High Society by Ben Elton. A short history of nearly everything by Bill Bryson and My uncle oswald by Roald Dahl-Ive loved Dahls books since I was a kid but this one is a cheeky little adult novel.

I'm not much of a reader, so I can't make a lot of recommendations here. However, by far the best book I've ever read, and the only book I've read more than once, is Odd Thomas, by Dean Koontz. It's a lot like The Sixth Sense with the main character seeing dead people and trying to help them (much more actively than Haley Joel Osment). The characters are all very well-written, the scenes are written to the point that you feel you're actually there, and, most significantly, the love story between Odd and Stormy is so skillfully treated and so compelling you can't help but find it touching. As I said, I'm not much of a reader, but this book is one I couldn't put down.
