Hello all,

I have a freshwater 55 gal. tank with a Fluval 404 canister filter. I have had this system running for about a year with no problems. I was wondering if my intake and outlet postions are optimal for the fish and tank I have. The Outlet is on one end and about 1/4 of the way down and the intake is on the other end and about 3/4 of the way down. Is this setup OK? I have two Zebra Angels, two Silver Dollars, five Neon Tetras, and about thirty Platies. I saw on another site that Angels don't like the water to be turbulant and the outlet should be positioned at the top. Anybody have any opinions?

Thanks for the help.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is the rule of thumb to follow :good: If the set-up is working for you, there is no need to play with it. As a rule, you want the intake about 1-2 inches above your substrate, and the outlet positioned such that it disturbs the surface of the tank, inlet and outlet at opposit ends, but TBH, I don't see much difference between the two in most set-ups

All the best
