The 2 sponges are in with the polyester pad inbetween.

so i can rinse part of it and leave the other part, im just worried

yeah just give one part a very gentle rinse in a bucket of tank water and then keep a close eye on levels for the next few days.

i think it'll be the polyester pad thats clogged up as that is the more dense material to stop tiny tiny particles
