It's getting near lights out the my tank but for the last hour or so a pair of gouramis have been hovering in the corner just below the surface. When I open the cover the male hides in the plants but he's soon back, the female doesn't go far either.

They just sit there practically motionless. Is this a sign of illness? Have they staked out their corner of the tank? I'm testing the water parameters, so far they look ok. Just got ammonia to go.

Thanks

my blue paradise gourami does this too gouramis just don't move fast tey move slow even though they have the capabilities of moving fast. Sometimes he scares me so much by staying on the gravel motionless that i think he's dead then he finally moves to show that he's alive. I wouldn't worry. :)

Yeah, they're dwarfs.

Thanks guys, I won't worry about finding them floating tomorrow now.

I would say the same. My opaline gourami and female blue paradise gourami lay on the gravel and only really move for food while my 2 Blue 1 Male Blue Paradise, and my gold gourami is very active. It all depends on the particular fish but yea there fine..
