Does fish scales grow back?

My fantail got attacked a few days ago and its lost most of its scales on both sides.I have another fantail wot got attacked by a crayfish and his scales has'nt grow back.Do they grow back in time?

my goldfish came w/out two scales on his side, and weve had him for a while, and they never grew back. So I think not, but Im no expert.

Scales should grow back in 3-5 weeks IME.
