well I saw some Pictus Catfish

at petco and I was wondering if I can have them along with my black skirt tetras without tetras becoming food?

lets just put it this way, pictus catfish are predators, they swim and prey on little tetras (see those long whiskers they use these to hunt) the pictus catfish is ready to pounce. and its even worse during the night... the truth is that if you want to own a pictus cat make sure there are no small fish in the tank to prey on. speaking from experiencing i had a pictus and i had several small tetras and they all went missing... i put two and two together and that was the end result... but i must say the pictus is an awesome looking fish!!!!

As long as a fish is above 2" long then it will be safe with the pictus cats.

Pictus cats should be kept in a small group of 3 of more and are very active so a tank of at least 55 gallons is recomended.
