want to build a huge saltwater tank 7'wide by 12' high will have a concrete base with tile and coral... any ideas on how to construct it so that the glass will hold?

Consult a concrete company with experience in swimming pools. It's a small investment consulting an engineer compaired to what a tank like that will cost to build & run.

Tolak

Wow thats a huge task.

Keep us imformed on how it goes.

saw a cool one yesterday with live sharks.....very cool so i now know that it can be done....i will consult my local concrete guy or my pool man....then i will call apple auto glass to come install the glass for me as they are also the experts

What sort of design are you going for?

A bow/hex front or a cube.

I've seen a really nice tank while in a casino in AUS.

It was a floor to celing column(very wide) with tons of coral in and it looked so nice.

What size shark are you going for?

cube floor to ceiling thinking of making a modified pool pump to act as a fliter..and instead of paying out the hoop for coral i will do some deep sea diving and pick it myself probably... not sure about sharks but flowerhorns for sure....may add sharks later...the 2 sharks i saw yesterday were 3 feet long

Wow that sounds really good.

Is it ok just to dive and take the coral yourself?

Some 3 foot reef sharks would be soo cool.

I want one.

The glass used Must be at least 1 1/2" thick or it will not be able to withstand the water pressure, use water proof epoxy to "glue" the glass together and make sure that you have a frame on the bottom, top and all four sides for extra strength.

Asked my hubby who is making aquariums for our household on a regular bases.
