Breeding platies

I'm thinking about getting two platies, a male and female so the can reproduce. My question is: Can I buy 2 that are a different color and still breed them?

P.S. I'm getting a small 5 gal to put these guys in.

Yes but in the interest of the sanity of the female get 2. That way they will have respite from the advances of the male.

and see the babies might be a mix of two different colors! that's so cool! and yeah like it was said before get 1 male and 2 females because sometimes males are too attentive and can worn out a female by chasing her!!! good luck!

Yes, put two girls - one boy in the tank and add water - You'll have babies, no doubt.

My red platy gave birth recently to 1 red fry and 3 purple ones, I think the blue tuxedo male had been having his wicked way with her

remember! after the female breeding,
you should isolation the female from the
male for one week!for the breeding,
the body of the female is fragility,these
time it will be hurt by the male..grievous,
it will die....so take care..........
