Fish Crazy
Hi all,
I have a small breeding tank under my main which is kept cycled by a large bamboo shrimp and a few tetra and six assassin snails.
The tank is filtered by a fluval 105, (so very good flow for the size of tank) and the lights are run for 10 hour a day, the tank gets no direct sunlight only whats reflected around the room.
Basically very similar to my main tank, but for some reason this smaller tank has always had a bit of a Black Beard algae problem.
The problem has always been minimal, just 3 or 4 tufts through the tank, so i never really classed it as a problem.
But unfortunately it has began growing along the front feelers of my Bamboo shrimp, which it doesn't appear he is able to clean himself.
How can i kill of the algae without hurting my shrimp?
I hear high doseing Flourish excell is a good treatment for this type of algae, is this a bad idea?
I'm reluctant to go crazy with treatments as so many contain copper and other nasties which will do more bad than good to my tank.
