I'm currently cycling my new 33 gal tank and I have a three spot and a cosby constantly chasing each other around. From what I have been reading on the betta and gouramis forums are 3 spots aggressive? I'm hoping to have a community gouramis tank, perhapes this is one fish that should be left out? I'd love to hear your comments as my experance with these fish are limited

I have a very successful and for the most part peaceful gourami tank. I have 3-spots (gold, opaline-what you call cosby, and a platinum), pearls, a moonlight, and a couple of paradise. They have all figured out how to get along. I think that it is pretty dependant on the individual. I have head that if your get then young, then your chances of harmony are better. You may want to also consider adding a small school to help create a diversion...
