I had a case of ich in my tank recently, and during that a lump appeared on the lower lip of one of my female danios, I assumed it was another white spot, but it's been there well over a week, the rest of my ich seems to have cleared up, keeping a close eye on the tank though incase I need to do another treatment as there is a 'suspicious' bit on my bettas clear fin by his head, of course he doesn't keep them still long enough for me to see......so I am watching out!

But seeing as the danios lump (if it was ich) should have dropped off over a week ago because slowly i rose the temp to about 30degrees celcius, and added salt.....the ich should have fallen off at least.
Any ideas what else it could be??
It's not fluffly....it just looks like a largeish spot under the skin?!

It could be the beginning of mouthrot, usually starts off as a white lump or area on the fishs lips and slowly eats away at the fishes mouth. Salt can have a negative effect on the health of danio's in the long term, the best way to treat the fish if it does have mouthrot would be to get a an anti-bacterial med to treat the fish with  .

Ah ok, I am treating the tank with melafix and pimafix (which is for bacterial and fungal infections) anyway,so hopefully that will stop it from getting any worse :)

Just makes sure to do very regular medium to small sized water changes while treating the fish (more than you would usually do, clean water is often one of the best cures for infections like this and you will help reduce the background levels of any diseases or parasites lurking in the water if you do this too  . Pimafix and Melafix are not the strongest meds for treating mouthrot (which is essentially columnaris of the mouth), so you may want to move onto a stronger anti-bacterial med if the fish shows no improvement after a while  .

Ok....I will keep an eye on the danio....a tetra had the same thing but his no longer appears to have a white bitm on it, I think it may have popped or something.....so hopefully I will give it another few days, and if nothing I will buy some proper fungal meds :)

This is what my danio looks like

Currently my danio's lip is like the one in that picture....they have also recently suffered fin rot and ich....

Yep it is definately mouthrot then if that is what the fish looks like. It is posible for it to clear itself up on its own with just clean water, but this is quite rare so it is better to medicate the fish to help ensure it will help up properly  .
