ArauraDiscus
Fish Addict
Finally, my 29 gallon tank cycled. After about 55 days of waiting in agony, my new Discus tank cycled. My story begins when I set it up and got it looking fine and dandy. I added food to create ammonia as I wasn't happy with my pure ammonia options. After a week the ammonia cycled completely and the nitrites skyrocketed as they should. About a week later I was expecting a sudden fall in Nitrites. Never came. Soon after I had to plop a sick molly in there in an emergency situation and used Methylene Blue to treat her fungus issue. She was fine in 3 days and I moved her out. SO then I wait another week, and for some reason the Nitrite still wouldn't drop. But oddly enough my Nitrates kept going up. So I knew there was bacteria, but they were just being to celebit. I needed some reproduction here!!!. Well I tested the Nitrites this morning before I went to work and found them still off the charts. SO I drudge off to work thinking, I will destroy this tank soon. I come home and test it, and whadayaknow, it's finally Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 and Nitrates 50. Time for some water changes and time to place and order for my new discus.
